Watch this Wonderful Video - Massive Tahitian Waves

In massive Tahitian waves, the most incredible day of surfing ever? Kelly Slater this week won a major surf competition in large waves at a notoriously treacherous venue in Tahiti. But the buzz around the Billabong Pro still is mostly about what transpired during an off day in the middle of the event, when more than a dozen tow surfers took over in gargantuan surf and participated in what some observers described as the most incredible and intense big-wave session ever recorded. Waves at Teahupoo, which break over an extremely shallow reef, were peaking at 25-plus feet. The ASP World Tour had declared a "code red" situation because the swells were too large and breaking too swiftly too be safely caught by paddle power. Slater mentioned how they're more like tsunamis because of the force with which the fast-moving swells shove against the reef. "They reach a point where they don't get any taller. They just get thicker," he said. Tow surfers enjoy the b

'YSR, A Man of People' written by KVP & will be released today at New Delhi

Image
The hot topic of the day is the release of a mega pictorial book featuring former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, the first such an attempt on any Congress leader in Andhra Pradesh. At least half a dozen books were written on YSR in the past, but the significance of this book – “YSR, a man of people” comprising rate pictures of YSR spanning three decades of his political career, is that it was sponsored by YSR’s close friend and Rajya Sabha member K V P Ramachandra Rao. The pictorial book, brought out by noted photographers D Ravinder Reddy and Raghu Rai, will be released in New Delhi on Tuesday evening. It is going to be entirely KVP show. He has invited who-is-who of the Congress party at the national level, who were all very close to YSR when he was alive – Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ahmed Patel, Motilal Vohra, Vayalar Ravi etc, In fact, the book should have been released by Sonia Gandhi, but for her illness. Besides, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Deputy CM Damodar Raja N

Anna Hazare's Life Vs Chiranjeevi's 'Rudraveena' Telugu Movie

Image
The only name that has been reverberating across all the four corners of this nation is Kishan Baburao Hazare a.k.a Anna Hazare. In the first look, one would find it hard to believe what this frail, puny looking man can achieve but his recent movement against corruption and the response he got for that stands as an example. And if you think this is the only credit of Anna then you are mistaken. He has been a messiah for bringing about such revolutions since many years and a live result of that can be seen in his village Ralegaon Siddhi in Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra. It was in the year 1985 when a news article about Anna caught the eye of director K Balachander. One thought led to another and Anna’s tirade against many things in society motivated KB. Taking that as inspiration, Balachander directed it and made the film ‘Rudraveena’ starring Chiranjeevi, Gemini Ganesan, Shobana etc. The film was eventually remade in Tamil as ‘Unnal Mudiyum Thambi’ starring Kamal Haasan. Image
Pakistan has agreed to grant the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India, something which New Delhi had been demanding for many years, a media report said today. A senior official of the Ministry of Trade said on the condition of anonymity that the status of MFN would be granted during the current year, Urdu daily Jang reported. Pakistan has in return asked for immediate lifting of non-tariff restrictions on its exports to India. Sources said that Trade and Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim would soon announce basic changes in Pakistan's trade policy. One of the amendments will be a draft to review the list of trade items between the two countries. According to the source, Pakistan has agreed to grant MFN status to India this very year in return for lifting the non-tariff restrictions on imports from Pakistan. This will fulfill the long-standing Indian demand in return for lifting of non-tariff restrictions alone. The report comes ahead of a possible meeting betw

How Anna managed with out food 12 days - A Great Story about Anna Hazare

Image
The men and the woman behind Team Anna Anna Hazare has become a powerful brand for people-driven change. But a brand is not built in isolation. It took, amongst others, the father-son due of a former law minister and an activist lawyer, a former police officer and an income tax officer-turned RTI activist to power the 24x7 Anna Hazare show that fired the nation's imagination like no other. These five people were part of his 'inner circle' of advisers: 1) Arvind Kejriwal: Hazare's right-hand man, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kharagpur, was additional commissioner of Income Tax, Delhi, at the young age of 27 before he turned against the establishment. Founder of Parivartan, a Delhi-based NGO pushing for transparent governance, the 43-year-old's tireless crusade educating people about the Right to Information Act won him the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Emerging Leadership in 2006. 2) Shanti Bhushan : One of the two legal brains behind Anna Haza

IITs fail to make it to World's Top- 500 list

The Indian Institute of Technology ( IITs), widely regarded as one of a handful of Indian institutions that are among the best in the world, may not be all that great any more. That is, if the Academic Ranking of World Universities ( ARWU) is to be believed. For the first time in nine years, not a single IIT figures in the ranking of the top 500 universities in the world. The sole representative of the IITs, IIT Kharagpur, which has seen its ranking fall steadily over the past few years, has been dropped altogether from the 2011 list released last week. This leaves just one Indian university on the long list - Indian Institute of Science (IISc). This, certainly, is the kind of news the IITs could do without right now - especially with Jairam Ramesh, himself an alumnus, recently saying the standard at the IITs had dropped, and the recent debate on the lack of research being produced by these premier institutions. " We are aware that our institute no longer figures on th

Bihar Govt to control bribing & corruption, decided to upload corrupted officers videos on YouTube

Bihar, for years a metaphor for backwardness, will now harness modern communiction tools to nail corruption. It will expose officials seeking bribes in welfare schemes by uploading clips of complaints against them on the video-sharing website YouTube. 'The state government has decided to use YouTube as a new tool to expose corrupt and bribe-seekers,' Bihar Rural Development Minister Nitish Mishra told IANS as graft becomes a nationwide concern, particularly with the anti-corruption crusade by Anna Hazare in New Delhi. To begin with, officials seeking bribes from the poorest of the poor for the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) will be targeted. The scheme aims to provide housing for the poor. 'Use of latest technology like YouTube is probably the first of its kind in the country to fight corruption in government welfare schemes, particularly the IAY in Bihar,' said A. Santosh Matthew, rural development department principal secretary. For the first time in Bihar, nearly o

Kim Kardashian’s Three Wedding Gowns Pictures and other all the Details!

Image
When Kim Kardashian chose family friend Vera Wang to create her custom couture wedding gowns, she knew things would be picture perfect. What she didn’t know, however, was which of the three intricate gowns she would choose to wear for her walk down the aisle. “I truly, up until two days before [the wedding] could not decide which to wear,” the bride admits to PEOPLE. After seeking advice from friends, family — and of course Wang herself — the choice was clear: Kardashian made her grand entrance in what she calls the “princess look” gown, a ball gown with full tulle skirt, basque waist and hand-pieced Chantilly lace appliqué on bodice and train. Along with her Lorraine Schwartz headpiece, she wore a cathedral-length veil with hand-pieced Chantilly lace appliqué at the hem and a lightly shirred blusher layer. “It was Cinderella,” Wang tells PEOPLE of the overall look. “But Cinderella with a very sexy body. She has a very Liz Taylor or Sophia Loren kind of body

Rebels loot strange treasure of Gadhafis - 'Assets, Gold details'

Image
TRIPOLI, Libya — Moammar Gadhafi's son al-Saadi liked fast cars, yachts and soccer, and his beachfront villa was stocked with his expensive toys. His sister Aisha lived in a two-story mansion with an indoor pool and sauna. As rebels took control of the Libyan capital over the weekend, the luxurious homes — symbols of the Gadhafi family's excesses — were among their first targets. After driving out the guards, rebels trashed and looted the villas and neighbors wandered through the wreckage Wednesday expressing their anger at the Gadhafi family's wealth and ostentatious tastes. "I can't even believe what I am seeing," said Muftah Shubri, a resident of Tripoli's western Nofleen neighborhood, as he walked across Aisha's lawn to the large covered pool where a ball and a small rubber boat still floated in the water. Gadhafi's 42-year rule over Libya had increasingly become a family business, with the dictator divvying up key spheres of interest, fr

The Mercer's survey - Almost 50% employees want to change their jobs now!

With improving job scenario in the country, one in every two employees, especially women, are considering to leave their jobs for better opportunities, according to a recent survey. "About 54 percent Indian employees are seriously considering to leave their jobs for better opportunities in terms of career and base pay," the latest Mercer's 'What's Working' survey said. Minimum monthly pension for members of EPF could soon increase to Rs 1,000

Image
The embattled UPA government is set to give a bonanza to 60 million workers in the organised sector. The minimum monthly pension for members of the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) could soon increase to Rs 1,000. Currently, most EPF pensioners receive less than Rs 500 a month, but for some it is as low as 4 and 12. Union Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge has sought immediate measures to enable the first revision in workers' pension income in 11 years - an annual bonus was last doled out in 2000. Employers contribute 12% of workers' salaries to their EPF accounts, over two-thirds (8.33% of the salary) of which is diverted to a pension scheme, subject to a maximum of Rs 541 a month. The government chips in with a subsidy of 1.16% of salaries (for a maximum of Rs 6,500 a month) for this pension scheme - launched in 1995, when Manmohan Singh was the finance minister. Apart from pension benefits to workers, the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS) of 1995 also offers pens

Facebook Hits 1 Trillion Page Views in Just One Month

Further digging into the data reveals that users spend over 700 billion minutes per month on the social network and, on a

Tim Cook the new CEO of Apple

Image
Tim Cook, Apple's New CEO Following Steve Jobs’ resignation announcement, Apple has named Tim Cook its new CEO. Cook, 50, joined Apple in March 1998. According to Apple, before Cook joined the company, he was vice president of corporate materials for Compaq and was “responsible for procuring and managing all of compacts product inventory.” Before that, he was COO of Intelligent Electronics’ reseller division. This won’t be the first time he’s run the company, which he did for two months in 2004 when Steve Jobs had surgery for pancreatic cancer and again in 2009 when Jobs had a liver transplant. The calm, quiet executive with a Southern accent is said to never raise his voice, starts sending emails to his subordinates at 4:30 a.m., and according to Fortune, can be a tough leader: “I’ve seen him shred people,” says a former executive who now works for another consumer electronics company and refused to be quoted by name. “He asks you the questions he knows you can’t an

Steve Jobs’ Resignation Letter

This is the resignation letter Steve Jobs sent to the Apple board: To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community: I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come. I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee. As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple. I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role. I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you. Steve

YS Jagan throwing crores of money to Lawyers to get possitve result

Image
If the reports emanating from New Delhi are to be believed, YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had wasted a whopping Rs 1 crore on fighting his case in the Supreme Court to get a stay on the CBI inquiry against him. According to sources, both the senior Supreme Court lawyers Ram Jethmalani and Mukul Rohatgi are the most expensive legal professionals and they charged heavy fees from Jagan to argue his case in the Supreme Court. “They take the fees depending on the time they spend on the case. Yet, Jagan did not bother about money and engaged them because of their reputation. These lawyers know fully well that the Supreme Court will reject the petition; yet they took up the case for the sake of money,” sources said. Jagan also engaged the services of former Solicitor General Gopal Subrahmanyam, but the latter dropped out in the last minute as he did not want to lose the case.

RGV about Anna Hazare tweeted in Twitter

Image
“I wonder how many of the nation wide supporters of Anna if given power themselves will not become corrupt”. “People in power will always be corrupt and people without power will always be jealous”. “If corruption is defined as taking advantage of ones position to get something better out of life then everyone is corrupt in one way or other”. “I have no moral stance to talk against corruption because I am very corrupted due to lots and lots of corrupt thoughts in me. I have not become corrupt so far because I dint get the opportunity and I also don't have the required courage”. These are the tweets posted by Ram Gopal Varma today. It gives a clear indication that RGV is looking at Anna Hazare as a selfish and jealous individual. He camouflaged that giving his own opinions on corruption. He confused in his own style that he is corrupted in one way and also stated in contrary in another tweet that he is not courageous to become corrupted. Is this just to grab m

Strong 6.0 earthquake rattles Washington, felt in New York

WASHINGTON: A strong earthquake measuring about 6.0 was felt in the US capital and its surrounding areas on Tuesday, forcing people to flee their offices as far away as New York. While there was no immediate report of any casualties or damage to the buildings, there was panic among the people, with buildings shaking for several seconds, taking everyone by surprise. The epicenter of the earthquake was reported to be in Northern Virginia. Reports said the Pentagon was evacuated after the temblor. Washington has not been used to earthquakes. As people rushed out of the building and started calling their near and dear ones, most of the phone calls dropped and communication system was initial down. India Tour of England 2011: England complete Test series whitewash 4-0

Image
England v India 2011: An innings victory at The Oval capped England's dominance of India as they took the Test series 4-0 Sachin Tendulkar came agonisingly close to a phenomenal 100th international century before a pathetic India slumped to an innings and eight runs defeat in the fourth and final Test to give a ruthless England a resounding 4-0 series win on Monday. Needing to bat out the entire fifth day to save the game, Tendulkar (91) led a spirited fightback alongwith Amit Mishra (84) but the complexion of the game changed dramatically after their dismissals as the visitors lost as many as seven wickets for a mere 21 runs to be all out for 283 in the second innings just at the stroke of tea. With this emphatic victory, England officially crowned themselves the number one team in Test rankings with 125 points followed by South Africa with 118 points. The Indians, who started the series as the number one Test team, surrendered the number one tag after losing the third T

Chiranjeevi earned Rs.300 Crore in merge of PRP into Congress?

Image
It is very common in politics to make allegations against one another without any basis. Anybody can make any wild allegation against his or her rivals and sling mud at them. And it makes fun for the media. On Monday, Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana alleged that the Congress MLAs who had resigned in support of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had been paid Rs 5 crore to Rs 10 crore each for shifting loyalties to him. “Some people are displaying their arrogance because of their money power. They are trying to split the Congress by bribing the MLAs,” he alleged. Reacting sharply to this, YSR Congress party spokesman Ambati Rambabu said the horse-trading was the Congress party culture. He alleged that the Congress high command had paid Rs 300 crore to Chiranjeevi to merge his Praja Rajyam Party with the Congress. “There were allegations in the past against Chiranjeevi that he had sold away his party tickets. Such persons have no moral r

Does YS Jagan really has 75 MLAs in hand now to resign?

Image
It looks like YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is not going to remain content with bringing psychological pressure on the Congress party by getting the resignation of 25-30 MLAs from the assembly seats. If the sources in the party are to be believed, Jagan is aiming at pulling down the Kiran Kumar Reddy government in the state and show his strength to the Congress party. So, Jagan feels the time has come to throw the Congress government in the state in Bay of Bengal. According to these sources, Jagan has sent messages to as many as 75 Congress MLAs in the state, who were hand-picked by his father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in 2009 elections and have been staunch loyalists of YSR. They were all asked to attend the crucial party meeting on Sunday. Jagan reportedly told them that it was not proper on their part to remain silent at a time when the Congress party has directly targeted the “maha neta” by implicating him in the cheating and criminal conspiracy case. And it

Investment Tips: Nine stocks you could still bet on in economic uncertainties

Image
Equity markets across the globe are once again in a bear grip as uncertainties over global economic growth mount. In India, the benchmark indices have fallen by over 18% since January 2011. While it is still not clear whether the world will see another recession in a short span of two years, economists hint at a period of at least two-three quarters of stagnant economic activity. Doubts over future growth are likely to impact the stock market performance of companies in the near term making it all the more difficult for investors to pick the right investment avenues. In addition, when companies face periods of slower demand their bottom lines suffer. This makes earnings-based valuation techniques such as price-earnings ratios less relevant, at least in the near term. One needs to use other methods of evaluating the worth of a stock during times when sustained profit growth is unlikely. One technique is to find out companies, which have grown their reserves and surplus account signi
