Income tax e-filing is an easy way to file your Income Tax return online in India. If you want to know how to do e-filing of income tax online on Internet – here is help. The Income tax e-filing is available at official site http://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.

Govt of India has offered Efilling (online submission of Income tax). Efilling is a fast process of income tax returns. This application is based on MS excel it makes the ITR form filling easy.

Follow the below steps to do e-filing of income tax return online on Internet:

  • Select appropriate type of return form from the given link: https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/portal/selectforms.do
  • Download the Return Preparation Software for selected Return form: https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/portal/downloads.do
  • Open that downloaded Excel file and fill the necessary information. Register and create User ID and Password. Fill out the form carefully by reading the instructions. Fill your return office and generate a XML file.
  • After that login and click on relevant form on left panel and select submit Return
  • Successful upload acknowledgement details would be displayed. Now click on print to generate printout of acknowledgement/ITR-V form.
Take the print of ITR V in two copies. One copy of ITR V, duly signed by the taxpayer, has to be sent by ordinary post to

by ORDINARY POST OR SPEED POST ONLY within 120 days of transmitting the data electronically. If the return is not digitally signed, on successful uploading of e-Return, the ITR-V form would be generated which needs to be printed by the tax payers. This is Acknowledgement and Verification.

ITR V sent by registered post or courier will not be accepted. The signature in ITR V must be in BLUE ink.
