Hyderabad to host biggest corporate cycling event - MNCs in Hyderabad Republic Ride-2012

Over 3,000 employees of various MNCs in Hyderabad will participate in the Republic Ride-2012, being billed as India's biggest corporate cycling event.

Hyderabad-based Atlanta Trust along with various industry associations will be organising the mega event on Republic Day, Jan 26 at the Gachibowli stadium.

Dinanath Harappanali, chairman and founder of Atlanta Foundation, told a news conference that NASSCOM, ITsAP, TiE, the American Chamber of Commerce in India, the Hyderabad Visitors Convention Bureau and the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh would be supporting the foundation in organizing the third edition of the annual event.

Riders from MNCs like Deloitte, GE, ADP, GMR, Mahindra Satyam, Infosys, CA, Wells Fargo and Invesco will participate in the ride, the proceeds from which will be used for funding the education of underprivileged children.

He said any citizen can participate in the ride which will be in the categories of 100 km, 50 km, 10 km and 5 km.

This year's event is being sponsored by Mahindra Satyam, Invesco, ADP, BSA and co-sponsored by Ascendas. TA Cycles has donated 100 bicycles worth Rs.300,000 for the event.

There will also be a cycling carnival with 18 cycling-based games like Cyclotomy, Tire-Tug and an amateur Cycle Polo tournament.

The foundation will also hold Flag Me contest to identify maximum flags from a range of 100 flags of different countries.

There will be other activities for kids including kids ride edition, a written English vocabulary test based on the Atlanta Foundation's educational content and the finals of the inter-school quiz contest. (IANS)
