AADHAAR UID Cards in Rajahmundry
RAJAHMUNDRY: The district administration has made arrangements to issue 12-digit Unique Identification (UID) -- named Aadhar -- to all people residing in the district in six months.
“A total of 52 lakh population would be covered in the district under the UID project,” said K. Sasidhar, Joint Collector.
UID would be made mandatory for every citizen very soon.
The Planning Commission has decided to issue the UID to 10 crore people of the country in the first phase.
The State government selected East Godavari, Srikakulam, Chittoor, Anantapur, Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Adilabad districts for the first phase of the project.
The Aadhar card containing a 12-digit Unique Identification Number (UID), would be linked to all demographic details and bank accounts. “These cards with UIDs would help people to open bank accounts without any hassle, get ration anywhere in the country and get job cards, among other facilities,” said M. Ravichandra, District Collector.
The Collector and the Joint Collector are reviewing the arrangements being made in all the revenue divisions .
