Google doodle marked 450th anniversary of St Basil’s Cathedral today
Russia celebrates the 450th anniversary of the Russian Orthodox church, located in Moscow’s Red Square.
The celebration starts with the opening of an exhibition honouring the ‘holy fool’ Basil the Blessed. Usually snow gathers on St. Basil’s Cathedal in Red Square, Moscow. This cathedral is a shrine and a symbol of Russia
This church is built in 1555 by orders of Ivan the Terrible and St Basil’s Cathedral suffered heavy damage during the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 and had been a target of Napoleon’s a century earlier.
