Azhar's son dies of injuries from bike accident

After battling for life for five days, Mohammad Ayazuddin, the son of former Indian cricket captain and MP Mohammed Azharuddin, died on Friday.

The doctors at Apollo Hospital declared him dead after neurological tests confirmed that the youngster’s brain had become dysfunctional.

The budding cricketer was critically injured in a road accident on the Outer Ring Road on September 11 while riding his superbike at a high speed.

"Ayazuddin has expired today, five days after being critically injured in road accident," the Apollo doctors said.

The 19 year old youngest son of Azharuddin was riding a 1000 CC sports motorcycle along with his cousin, Ajmal, when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed. Ajmal, whose mother is Azharuddin's sister, died a few hours later. He was 16. On Monday, the doctors had removed one of Ayazuddin's damaged kidneys. Despite their best efforts, they could not save him.

Ayazuddin had played in the under-13, under-15 and under-19 side and was considered a promising talent.

A look-alike of Azharuddin, the stylish way and Hyderabadi wrist technique and all, Ayaz was known to be a promising cricketer.
